One of the challenges any hemp farmer faces is having to find buyers and processors for their biomass. This is no different for Arizona hemp farmers. With limited processing options based in this state, farmers often times have to find out-of-state processors and buyers. Even though hemp was made a federally legal commodity by the 2018 Farm Bill, there is still a lot of ignorance around this plant. Unfortunately, hemp shipments run the risk of being confiscated even if they have the right paperwork. Understanding these risks and how to minimize them can help you avoid ruining an entire shipment of biomass.
First and foremost, doing the research on what states your shipment will be transported through as well as the destination can help you understand what risks you run. Certain states, like Idaho, have a zero hemp tolerance policy and will confiscate and prosecute for transporting across their lines. Making a deliberate route can help you minimize wrongful confiscation. When packing your biomass, make sure there is no moisture in the bags. Moisture can lead to mold and mildew which will ruin your shipment. Once your bags are airtight and sealed, it’s recommended to double bag your biomass before leaving copies of your paperwork and COAs on top. Make sure paperwork is easily located before sealing the boxes.
CBD Seed Co. is honored to be the trusted CBD hemp seed provider serving Arizona. If you have to ship your biomass further distances, we always recommend trying to find refrigerated or temperature-controlled delivery trucks. Always include an extra set of paperwork on top of each box so there is no need to open your shipment.
