Utah’s Hemp and Cannabinoid Act is subdivided into four parts. These include sections which pertain to industrial hemp, cannabis cultivation, and cannabinoid products. As a hemp farmer, it’s important that you pay special attention to the details outlined in the industrial hemp and cannabis cultivation sections. Requirements for Growing CBD Seed in Utah
In order to grow CBD seed or clones on your Utah farm, you must meet the following requirements:
- Obtain a license to grow hemp in Utah by completing the grower license application, submitting a FBI background check, providing information on your growing and storage areas, submitting details of your plans, and paying the necessary fees.
- Grow hemp only on the site specified on your application. You may not grow hemp in a residential structure or within 1000 feet of a school. You must also post signage at your plot’s entrance.
- Submit a Pre-Planting Report before planting any hemp seed or clones.
- Submit a Planting Report within 10 days after planting.
- Submit a Harvest Report and test the growing area at least 30 days before harvest.
- Submit a Production Report 30 days after harvest.
- Submit to random testing and pre-harvest testing conducted by the department.
- Store hemp in a secured facility outside of public view.
- Renew your hemp growing license each year before December 31st.
